About our Classic Video Game Emulators

video game console emulator is a type of emulator that allows a computing device to emulate a video game console’s hardware and play its games on the emulating platform. Many emulators are developed for Microsoft Windows, Macintosh or Linux platforms. Our emulators are developed to run natively directly in your web browser using Edge, Chrome, or Safari.

NINTENDO (NES) EMULATORS

We offer three NES Emulators on free80sarcade.com. The first two are written in JavaScript and will render classic Nintendo games directly in your web browser (Edge, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc). Our default NES emulator supports sound and very realistic game play. The second emulator supports touch devices, and it supports NES game play on mobile devices and Iphones. Sorry, no sound on mobile devices. Be careful, emulator play on mobile devices drains the battery quite fast.

The third NES emulator is written in JAVA and requires a JAVA extension to be installed to play on your computer. The Java emulator offers smoother gameplay over its JavaScript counterparts. Unfortunately a handful of NES games will not work in some of these emulators.

NOTE: I did not initially write any of these emulators. All are found on the Internet under the Public Domain License.
